The basic smoking rule at Tokyo DisneySea

The official Tokyo Disney Resort smoking-area page for Tokyo DisneySea (https://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/tds/service/detail/058/) states that, so that everyone can enjoy their time safely, everywhere in Tokyo DisneySea is non-smoking except the smoking areas. It also notes that restaurants are non-smoking, and that ashtrays may be temporarily removed or relocated when the park is crowded. So you cannot smoke in attraction queues, restaurants, show-viewing areas, or on benches and in rest spaces, and to smoke you need to walk to a designated smoking area.

Why this guide does not assert in-park smoking area locations

This guide does not assert the land name, number or position of smoking areas inside Tokyo DisneySea. That is not because the information was unavailable: it is a deliberate choice after checking the official page. When we viewed the official Tokyo Disney Resort smoking-area page on 25 July 2026, the official text itself did not list individual smoking area positions or a count. It labels the area as "Park Wide" and directs readers to check the map (the Tokyo Disney Resort App). If a third party pins down positions the official source deliberately leaves open, that text drifts out of date every time operations change.

The official page also states that ashtrays may be temporarily removed or relocated when the park is crowded, which shows officially that the operation of the smoking areas itself can vary from day to day. Some sites and blogs do list specific positions, but those are not primary official information and may diverge from reality after refurbishment or operational changes. The reliable method is to check the official smoking-area page and the Tokyo Disney Resort App map on the day of your visit. If you cannot find one inside the park, asking a nearby cast member is the quickest route.

Planning points specific to DisneySea

Tokyo DisneySea is made up of several themed ports, and moving between areas takes time. Leaving your spot to walk to a smoking area can affect your show-viewing position or your place in a restaurant queue. If you plan to smoke, moving during a gap between attractions or shows tends to cost you less overall.

• Build the round trip to a smoking area into your schedule in advance
• Leaving while waiting for a show or parade may mean having to secure a position again
• Weather, wind direction and crowding can make outdoor smoking areas harder to use
• If someone in your group does not smoke, agree on a meeting point before you leave
• If you cannot find a smoking area, ask a cast member in the park

Maihama Station North Exit smoking area, for before and after your visit

According to the Urayasu City official site, the city has installed smoking areas in its litter-prevention priority zones, one of which is the Maihama Station North Exit smoking area. The others listed are the Urayasu Station Seseragi Plaza smoking area and the Shin-Urayasu Station Plaza smoking area. Since Maihama Station is the gateway to Tokyo Disney Resort, this is a practical option if you want to smoke before entering or after leaving. Availability and usable hours can change, so check Urayasu City official information and on-site signage before use.

Street smoking and littering rules in Urayasu City

Urayasu City has no ordinance that bans street smoking itself and imposes a fine. The city official page on littering and street smoking contains no statement of a penalty or fine for street smoking. On the other hand, under its Ordinance on the Prevention of Littering of Empty Cans and Other Items, the city bans littering of rubbish including cigarette butts. The Maihama Station area is designated a litter-prevention priority zone along with the Urayasu Station and Shin-Urayasu Station areas.

The absence of a fine does not mean you may smoke anywhere. Smoking on a crowded station forecourt or footpath can expose others to second-hand smoke and can lead to accidents such as burns. Out of consideration for second-hand smoke and as a matter of manners, please smoke at a smoking area installed by the city or in a smoking room inside a facility.

The revised Health Promotion Act, heated tobacco and the under-20 rule

According to the Urayasu City official page on second-hand smoke measures, the act partially amending the Health Promotion Act was enacted in July 2018 and the rules took effect from April 2020. The main points are that indoor spaces are non-smoking in principle, people under 20 may not enter smoking areas, and standards apply to the installation of smoking rooms. The same city page also states explicitly that the use of heated tobacco products such as IQOS, Ploom TECH and glo is likewise prohibited inside non-smoking areas.

We do not assert how heated tobacco and e-cigarettes are specifically treated inside Tokyo DisneySea, because we could not confirm primary official information at the time of writing. The safe assumption is to treat heated tobacco and e-cigarettes as usable only inside designated smoking areas. Smoking under the age of 20 is prohibited by law in Japan, and people under 20 may not enter smoking areas.

About tobacco sales inside the park

Whether tobacco is sold inside Tokyo DisneySea is a frequently searched topic, but this guide does not assert an answer because we could not confirm primary official information. Some third-party sites name specific shops, but what each shop stocks can change and may not be the same when you visit.
